Every miniature painter knows the moment: you reach for Vallejo Dark Sea Blue and knock over six other bottles looking for it. A messy paint station doesn't just slow you down — it interrupts the exact focus that makes painting minis relaxing in the first place. Here's how to fix it, layer by layer.
1. Give every paint a visible home
The single biggest upgrade is storage where every label faces you. Piles and drawers fail because paints hide; flat lazy-susan trays fail because labels face sideways. Tiered racks with a forward tilt solve both — our 60-bottle dropper rack stacks four staggered tiers on a footprint smaller than an A4 sheet, with each row tilted 13° so you read every label at a glance.
2. Match the rack to your paint format
Dropper bottles (Vallejo, Army Painter, AK) and pots (Citadel, P3, SMS) need different well sizes — a pot rattling in a dropper slot wastes space and tips over. That's why we make a dedicated 44-pot rack for 32mm pots alongside the dropper version. Same footprint, same look, right fit.
3. Use your vertical space
Desk space is the scarcest resource in any hobby room. Once the desk fills up, go up: our Riser Display Stand pin-locks onto the racks and adds three gallery shelves — another 38 bottles at eye level, 98 in total with the 60-bottle rack, no screws or glue.
4. Keep tools in reach, not in the way
Brushes belong upright (bristles up!), files and clippers in a drawer. Our racks hide a magnetic drawer in the base for exactly that — it clicks shut so nothing spills when you move the rack, and the clip-on brush holder drops into the rack's accessory canal when you need cups at hand.
5. Leave a clear wet zone
Keep a bare 40×40cm zone directly in front of you for the wet palette, water pot and the mini itself. Everything else — paints, brushes, tools — lives at the edges in vertical storage. You'll be surprised how big a small desk feels.
